KNIGHTS XC RIVALS STRONG TEAMS, TOUGH HILLS, AND HIGH TEMPS IN SEPTEMBER

September 18 - Paul Enke/Hazelwood Central XC Invitational
The Blue Knights High School XC team returned for the 2nd time (previously in 2019) in its history to compete in what is known as one of the hardest courses in Missouri.  The sun came out in full force just before the races began, so the runners fought the heat and the hills.  The hills at Sioux Passage Park are aptly named “Man-Maker” (which is run twice) and “Confidence-Breaker.”  Our runners were once again strong against the tough competition of topped rank schools like Kirkwood, Parkway West, St. Louis University High, and more.

  • The Knights boasted two medal finishers: Adam Gresham (V-boys) placed 20th out of 121, and Tabby Bryant (JV-girls) placed 6th out of 130!
  • Varsity boys team took 10th out of 15 teams.
  • JV boys team took 12th out of 18 teams.
  • JV girls team took 5th out of 13 teams.

September 27 - Elsberry XC Invitational at the Sun Valley Golf Course
The Knights entered full teams in four of the six races and finished in first place in each! Varsity Boys, Varsity Girls, JV Boys and MS (Middle School) Girls each brought home 1st place trophies. “I believe this was the first time we’ve ever been able to field full varsity teams for both boys and girls in the same meet,” commented XC Head Coach Marv Meyers.

Overall, the Knights long-distance runners earned 25 individual medals.

  • Adam Gresham won 1st in the boys varsity race.
  • Mason Tallo won 1st in the boys JV race.
  • Tabby Bryant led the girls varsity with a 4th place finish.
  • Faith Brown lead the middle school girls with a 5th place finish.
  • 15 runners had PRs (personal records) on what was a pretty tough hilly course and a hot day (90 degrees).
