The St. Louis Blue Knights offers a Cross Country (XC) program for both High School (9-12th grade) and Middle School homeschool students (ages 10-14 as of August 1st).
The program fields teams that compete against local public and private high schools as a MSHSAA affiliate program (Varsity and JV, boys and girls). Most HS races are 5k (3.1 miles). The MS teams compete in meets 2.5-3k or 2 miles races. Note that 5th & 6th graders may not be eligible to compete in every MS race. There are no tryouts—everyone is welcome to join, but we may need to limit the number of participants.

Pre-season easy workout for registered runners at Wapelhorst Park (Tues, Aug 3, 5:00-6:30)
This workout is mandatory for athletes. This workout will be an introduction to your coaches and the park which is one of our practice locations. We will be outlining the expectations for the season, burn off some energy, finalize uniform orders, etc.
First official practice at Wapelhorst Park! Tues, Aug 10, 6:00-7:30
Registration is open July 1 - July 31
*There will be a $25 late fee for registrations after July 31st, so don't delay!

2020 Season Highlights
Cross Country Knights are gettin' things done! |
- 28 runners set PRs (personal records)
- Three of our teams finished as National Runner-ups at Springfield (Varsity Boys, Varsity Girls, 12U Girls).
- Varsity Boys routinely finished in the top half of teams at meets throughout the season, competing against private and large public schools.
- Two High School runners logged over 1000 miles last year, and three Middle School runners logged over 500 miles.
- Middle School Girls won 1st place in the Potosi Invitational (out of 12 teams) and placed 2nd at Hillsboro.

Estimated Cross Country Program Fee (to be finalized by July 1st):
$100* for High School
$75 for Middle School
(*Warm-up rental cost included in HS fee)
Blue Knights Registration Fee:
$10 per runner. This covers insurance, referees, facility fees and other organizational costs.
Uniforms:
$30 (Mandatory, can be used for track; same uniforms as last year)
Compression shorts (optional) for ~$6
Miscellaneous/pay on your own: good running shoes, running spikes (for meets only; ask for HS discount at Fleet Feet or Big River; or find used), Nationals (optional one night in hotel on Friday night preceding event)

IMPORTANT: All parents, please review slide 5 on MSHSAA eligibility. We explain this in the meeting video. Of particular note is that in some Middle School meets, we may not be allowed to run 5th and 6th graders. In other meets, this won’t be a problem. Also, pay attention if you are taking some classes at a school—there is a limit for this. Please reach out to Coach Marv Meyers directly if you have questions or concerns.
